WALTHER WMP AMMUNITION RECOMMENDATIONS
In this article, we will go over the Walther WMP Ammunition Recommendations.
The new Walther WMP isn’t just another target practice plinker, it was developed to be a high-quality, lightweight, easy-to-shoot, and affordable pistol for shooters who want to stay READY as part of their active outdoor lifestyle.
If you have ever spent much time with .22 caliber firearms, you know that they can often be hit or miss depending on the ammunition you feed them. They may LOVE one brand but refuse to function with another brand. We have done extensive testing with the new Walther Magnum Pistol and we are more than happy to share the reliability findings with you here. *The findings below are the results of the testing done ONLY with the Walther WMP and are NOT a reflection or statement of the quality of the ammunition nor the Brands/Manufacturers listed.
THE FOLLOWING AMMUNITION IS GOOD TO GO: Most 40gr JHP and FMJ’s from 1875-2200 FPS
CCI BRAND: (Most CCI is good to go)
- MaxiMag 40gr JHP and MaxiMag 40gr Target: WORKS BEST
- Every 40gr+: WORKS WELL
- 30gr Hollow Points: WORKS OK
FEDERAL BRAND:
- Most 40g, 45gr, and 50gr Federal worked well. (Including Champion and American Eagle)
- Speer Gold Dot 40gr: WORKS VERY WELL
HORNADY BRAND:
- Critical Defense 45gr: WORKS VERY WELL
NORMA BRAND:
- 40gr JHP Small Game Ammo: WORKS WELL
REMINGTON BRAND:
- 40gr PSP (*Was only Remington ammo tested): WORKS OK
FIOCCHI BRAND:
- Shooting Dynamics 40gr JHP: WORKS BEST
THE FOLLOWING AMMUNITION IS NOT RECOMMENDED:
*MOST 30gr Polymer Tip ammo does not have enough recoil to function in the Walther WMP
Remington 33gr Accutip-V: NOT RECOMMENDED
CCI 30gr VNT and 30gr V-Max: NOT RECOMMENDED
Hornady 30gr V-Max Varmint Express Polymer Tip: NOT RECOMMENDED
Winchester Varmint 25gr NTC Lead-Free: NOT RECOMMENDED
AGUILA BRAND:
None of the Aguila Ammo functions well in the WMP: NOT RECOMMENDED
WINCHESTER BRAND:
40gr Super-X: *(Varies): INCONSISTENT
*RAT SHOT: WILL NOT FUNCTION IN ANY FORM IN THE WALTHER WMP
